Job Description:

Manchester NHS Trust is looking to appoint a Medical Receptionist / Deputy Reception Team Leader to join our busy healthcare team. This dual role is crucial for providing a welcoming, organized, and efficient front-of-house service, as well as supporting the Reception Team Leader in managing the reception area. This position requires a blend of excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle administrative duties effectively.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients, greeting them in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Manage patient check-ins and appointments using the electronic booking system.
  • Answer phone calls, handle queries, and provide accurate information to patients and visitors.
  • Assist in the management of the reception area to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support the Reception Team Leader with administrative tasks and the supervision of reception staff.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information at all times.
  • Handle general administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, and maintaining records.
  • Assist in resolving any issues that arise at the reception and report significant information to the appropriate staff.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar role in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to deputize in the absence of the Reception Team Leader.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High proficiency in using healthcare IT systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain calm under pressure.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality customer service.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and NHS practices would be advantageous.
